MOMOLOGY: The Art and Science of Mothering

We all know that mothering is, indeed a science. And an art. There is a certain amount of finesse in mothering that we have seen in many admirable moms, moms we all hope to someday be like! The upcoming MOPS year will provide an amazing number of resources for moms who are working daily to be the best moms they can be. We will never be perfect, of course, but that doesn't mean we stop striving to do our best. Our children deserve nothing less. I hope all our MOPS moms are as excited about the upcoming year as the Steering Team is.

We have been working hard to make sure this is a spectacular MOPS year. The speaker topics are incredibly relevant speaking on issues such as the love language of children. The crafts will be fun, funky, and functional with crafty Rachel at the helm. Tephanie has been working on the amazing table decor and other hospitality issues, and wants everyone to feel at home when they walk into our MOPS room. Tammy is our registration person and has a comforting way about her that will make every mom, even those new to the mommy world, feel welcome in our organization. Mandy is our Discussion Group Leader, and she is on the ball making sure each Table Leader will know what is going on and how to go about meeting the needs of our moms. Gina and Kelley have been diligently searching all summer for Moppet volunteers, and they have done all they can to make sure our Moppets will be in a safe, fun environment where all moms will feel comfortable leaving their children. Erika is in charge of finance and ensuring we are good stewards of the monies we are provided. Erin is our care coordinator and will do her best to make sure those who need a little TLC get it!! Crystal is our publicity person and will be taking over this blog, our facebook page, and is already hard at work on a FABULOUS newsletter that will go out on a monthly basis. Deedee Nelson and Christy Putty are co-coordinators of this MOPS group, and all of us have a passion for MOPS! We can't wait to see what the Lord is going to do in this group!

Our first meeting of the year is September 13th at 9:30 in the Southside Chapel on Ramstein. We can't wait to see you there!

Informational Letter about the Upcoming MOPS Year

Hello, MOPS Moms and Mentors!

Christy and Deedee and the entire steering committee have been working hard all summer getting prepared for the upcoming MOPS year! We are excited and looking forward to getting started. We thought we would send out an informational email to you all to let you know how things are going, what we need, and some of the plans we have for the next year. We will also be posting this information on Facebook and our blog.

First, we are so excited and we want to welcome our new and returning moms! We expect this year to be full of encouragement, and to give each mom the tools they need to grow spiritually and as moms and wives. We are planning on having a speaker once a month to talk on relevant topics concerning parenting, communication, military life, marriage, and fun things to do as a family. We also plan to have a craft once a month, with lots of time for building relationships with other moms.

Second, what we need from YOU! This is your group, and we need everyone to be an active participant! To start, we need MOPPET donations. For example, new or gently used toys and books, snacks, hand sanitizer, wipes, etc. Send us an email of what you can contribute or bring it to one of our remaining play dates this summer so our awesome MOPPETS coordinators (Kelly and Gina) can plan accordingly. We also need your recommendations and help recruiting MOPPETS workers. Without workers, MOPPETS will be required to have moms rotate through and provide the childcare for our kids. We currently need 9 workers, 3 must be adults who can be in charge of the room, and we need 6 others who can help with each adult. This could include home-schooled teenagers or college students, etc. A love offering is available for MOPPET workers.

Finally, our first meeting will be on Sept 13 at 0930 with food and fellowship, and finishing our meeting by 1115, child pick-up by 1130. Our theme for the year is Momology: The Art and Science of Mothering. We are very excited about this topic, as it opens up so many opportunities for discussion and growth! We hope that you are as excited about his new year as we are!

As a side note, if you are feeling called to help serve other moms this year we are still looking for table leaders. If you have any questions about what that entails, please email us and we will be happy to provide details.

Don't forget, we are having play-dates at Donnelly Park (weather permitting) on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of the month. Our next one is tomorrow! We hope to see you there at 10:00.

Have a fabulous summer, we can't wait to see you all in September if not sooner!! And to the moms who are in the process of PCSing, good luck, safe travels, and contact us if you need anything.

Blessings,
Deedee and Christy

Monday, July 12th Playdate!

Well, summer and the sweltering heat is upon us, but that won't stop us from having a good time! We are planning to meet at Donnelly Park every second and fourth Monday throughout the summer, at 10 am, soooooooo...let's see you on Monday the 12th of July! There will be a few new moms to the Ramstein/ KMC community there, so if you feel comfortable, introduce yourself to an unfamiliar face! How nice would it have been to have had a playdate already planned when you first moved here, with all kinds of nice mommies coming up to talk to you and welcome you?? I know I would have really really appreciated any kind of contact from other mommies, lol!

Our new MOPS year is in the works and gearing up to go. The steering team is already hard at work lining up all kinds of fun activities, festive decorations, fun/ enlightening/ enriching speakers, childcare workers, mentor moms and oh so much more! We just can't wait.

See you Monday!

Last Meeting of the 2009/2010 Year

Well, the end of the MOPS year is upon us. I am looking forward to an awesome summer of fun with my family, but I am going to miss the bi-monthly meetings and fun with the MOPS group. Luckily, Crystal has stepped up to plan Moms' Night Outs and Playdates, so be on the lookout here, in your email, and on facebook for information about things to do with the MOPS groups.

Yes, you heard correctly - groupS - with an "s", plural! For the 2010/2011 MOPS year, the KMC will actually have two MOPS groups, one on Ramstein and one on Vogelweh. Tentatively, the Ramstein group will be meeting at the Southside Chapel on Mondays, and the Vogelweh group will be meeting at the Kapaun Annex on Wednesdays. We will be introducing the new Steering Teams for both groups at Monday's meeting.

Monday will be a passing of the torch, so to speak. We will also have a first aid expert, Angie Boehm, speaking from her wealth of knowledge. It will be a fabulous meeting with tons of prize giveaways. Can't wait to see everyone there!

Celebrate MOM!

Anyone who was at today's meeting knows it was a fantastic "get-to-know-you" (in a very real way) kind of meeting. Thank you so much to all the moms who shared, but particularly to Rachel, Kim, and Andrea. What a blessing it is to have such a wealth of experience, depth of expertise, and high level of hilarity in our little MOPS group! I don't think I have laughed that hard in a long time!

We will have a ton to pack into the last meeting. We will be introducing the new Steering Teams for both Vogelweh and Ramstein, pre-registering for both groups, and we will be "celebrating mom" appropriately enough the day after Mother's Day! We may have our First Aid speaker, Angela, along with all kinds of fun giveaways and games. And, the new Steering Teams will be providing all the food, so the pressure is off for the rest of the mommies!! Be thinking about whether you are interested in serving on the Steering Team, being a table leader, or a member of a committee for next year. And don't forget to complete the survey monkey end of year survey! Here is the link: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/N7NBRXN

Enjoy this amazing Spring weather - the best of Germany is here! Tons of outdoor time is the call of the day. Personally, I am enjoying all the greenery and flowers, and watching the season burst upon the world. This is the first time I have lived in an area where you actually see all four seasons. What a miracle. Isn't our God awesome? I love His daily reminders of His glory.

Have an amazingly blessed month, and see you May 10th!! (And don't forget about a playdate on May 24th!)
